Feb 10 - Daily Journal

Wt: 238.8

Points: 16

I came home from work today and was starving - normally we have dinner quite early - but tonight we had to eat later because Den and Liam had gone out for a bit. A few weeks ago, I would have reached for cookies or chips or a huge helping of cheese and crackers, or would have made a meal "to tide me over", like a grilled cheese sandwich or some chicken nuggets.

Tonight, I cut up a zucchini into thin strips (like french fries) brushed olive oil on it and sprinkled cayenne pepper on it, then grilled it on the stove in a grill pan. I ate it piping hot. It was still crisp in the centre, but the outside was wonderfully brown and the cayenne pepper gave it a nice kick. Because it was piping hot I had to eat it slowly, but it was satisfying and so delicious that it was the perfect before dinner snack and held me over til dinner was ready about an hour later.

I think we overlook successes like that sometimes and focus so much on the scale or the numbers. Relearning to eat is a huge undertaking and every little new learning is important and will help me.
