Just One Thing

Like I said yesterday, when this weight loss thing is going well - there doesn't seem to be anything to think about - it just all "works". If I could find the magic combination of attitude, determination and planetary alignment and bottle it, I would be rich.

I can't explain what makes it work and what happens to make it all go wrong. I know there are a lot of bloggers right now, in the place I was last week; feeling defeated, weak, tired, fed up, hopeless - and I know it seems bleak sometimes.

When I get like that - I tell myself, I just have to do one thing GOOD FOR ME. Just one. That one thing will prove to me that I love me and that I am worth the effort.  Usually that one thing, turns my whole mood around. Sometimes convincing myself to JUST DO ONE THING is a fight in itself, but once I do it - life starts to look better almost immediately. It doesn't have to be a big thing - take the time to pack my meals for the next day; cook myself a healthy meal; go for a short walk; pack my workout stuff so it's ready in the morning; JUST ONE THING.

You can do one thing.

You would do a lot of things for a lot of people in your life.

Do just one thing for you.

Why are you still here? Go do it!

  1. Great point! I probably do a dozen things for others for every one thing I do for myself.

And yes, if you could put that into a pill you'd be one wealthy lady. :)

  2. Totally awesome advice. I've also said that getting fit requires a certain degree of self-centeredness. If you aren't willing to put yourself first, you'll have a tough time getting through this.

Of course, you've said it much better than I ever did or could.

    Well done!

  5. Great message Enz. Sometimes when we feel overwhelmed there's a sense that NOTHING is working or could EVER work. But focussing on one thing can definitely make you feel like you still have some control and can turn things around. Good thinking.

  6. This is such a great post, Enz. I think a lot of times, we all struggle in this journey because we don't think we're worth the effort. Doing one good thing for ourselves reminds us that we are indeed worth it!

  7. Great post Enz and I desperately need to do something just for me as it feels I'm drowning right now. Strangely enough I don't put my grief into eating this time, maybe that's the good thing I'm doing for myself now?

Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog.

  8. Enz, I like that idea. Just doing something for yourself can make you reconnect with your own value.

  9. Good call Enz! It's easy to lose sight of that sometimes. Looks like you are doing a good job staying in your WW points too.
