Tired of Being Sick and Tired

Sorry I've not been around much, I've tried to comment on a few blogs here and there. This case of Shingles has completely knocked  me on my ass. I keep thinking "tomorrow will be better" and then it isn't.

I hurt all over, I feel weak and tired and have zero energy, mental or physical,  and in between I am mad that I can't fix it. My doctor keeps telling me, "Rest, it has to run it's course - you can't do anything to make it go faster." It's been almost two weeks.

I am thankful that this is not a serious illness, that I will get better and that I have friends to help me through this. The other day I could not carry a laundry hamper up the stairs. I had to keep stopping I was so winded and weak.

I walked around the block 2 days ago and was so out of breath I wanted to cry.

Tomorrow will be better.

  1. Hey, I'm really sorry that this is happening to you.
May, I suggest to try to divert your mind into something else for few days. Easier said than done. I know.
    I will pray for you!

  2. I just came across your blog link from another blog that I've started following! Yes, tomorrow will be better! My sister-in-law has been dealing with shingles also and I know from her how painful this can be. I KNOW it can be hard to just rest sometimes, but the end result will be worth it! (Easy for me to say...I once ran a marathon a week after breaking my toe and ended up wearing a boot cast for 4 months!!)...

  3. Sorry Enz that it's a long drawn out process. I hate being sick myself, so I can imagine how down you are after 2 weeks of this. Thinking of you.

  5. Enz - sorry to hear you're so unwell. My mum had shingles a few years ago and I can honestly say I've never seen her so sick...
Hate to say it, but you will do yourself a favour if you just switch off. You literally need to move as little as possible - just rest. Sleep if you can and if not find something that rocks your boat - read, knit, watch tv, whatever, just rest. If you do it now it will cut down your recovery time, if you insist on being active, it will take you months and months to recover. Take care x

  10. SWEETIE - take it easy! When you said two weeks.... about two weeks ago... I just wanted to grab you up and hug you (gently) and tell you to take it EASY. Your body is asking for help and rest... not training right now. It makes me want to cry that you wanted to cry.
Some forms of that nasty virus you have - like trigeminal neuralgia - it is so painful that people resort to the unspeakable. So take it easy and get well before you RUN off doing fast and busy things!
    Luv ya!
